All I’ll Say

Taking into account lived experience
It’s funny how perception colors everything
How what’s whispered
What’s shouted at me means more than
My achievements, ambition, success
You say I am more, but that’s definitely not how I know you judge me
Decisions are made in split seconds
And what you said?
What you did both empowers and cripples me
Past action, present reaction
My fear? It’s not irrational, you see
I’ll say little else on the subject
Little else that will be heard at least
Upbringing isn’t important
Degrees mean nothing
If the one decision you make has the power to slay me

This sounds eerily similar to something that Will and I were discussing about an exchange that took plsce between a former boss and him.
