I felt the throb of the word he carved into my back.
He etched slowly, I couldn’t quite figure out what, the pain and desire clouding my brain. He’d found a kink I didn’t know existed and played with it. The way his body pressed into mine as he’d worked had sent me into a tailspin of erotic need I’d never be able to sort out.
When he finished, he cleaned my back with care and then bandaged me up.
“You can’t see it yet, I just want you to feel what I’ve done to you.”
I could feel it. I was a mess as I lay bent over that table. Tears soaked my face and a different wetness soaked my thighs.
He stood me up and then drew me into his arms. I buried my face in his neck, needing his comfort. He stroked my hair and held me. The kiss he pressed into my neck made me weak.
“I have to go for now, detective. Your partner will be here to retrieve you, but I’ll be back for you.”
It was a dark promise.
I didn’t expect him to leave me there and a part of me was crushed when he walked out of the door.
“I see something in you. Something that looks a lot like the demon that lives in me.”
His words would echo in my mind later that evening as I examined his handiwork. The scar he’d left on me so I’d never forget him.
I stood transfixed in my bathroom, the bandage peeled down as I looked back into the mirror.
